Would 5 years make a difference to you?

So I met someone a few weeks ago and we finally had time to meet up for what was supposed to be a quick coffee last night... we met at 8 I didn't get home till midnight so needless to say it went well.

Here's the thing... there is a 5 year age difference between us.. I'm not going to say older or younger because I'm wondering about your opinions for both.

Would you be ok with dating someone 5 years your junior? lets say you're 30 and hes 25.

What about someone 5 years your senior? you 30 him 35.

I know there are is a +/- for both but I'm interested in your opinions, so lets hear it...

Stay pretty ;)

Five years is nothing in that range...would probably be an issue if you were say 21 then plus or minus five would get in the way but I would say go for it.

I agree, 5 years +/- isn't that much of a difference unless it was someone a younger we were talking about here.

I think it all depends on the maturity levels of each person. I mean, there is a point at which it's creepy no matter how mature you are, like if you're 23 and he's 50. But my fiance is 31 and I'm 24. And it works. I've known guys who were 30+ years old and were about as mature as a 17 year old, though, so it's important to be able to gauge a person that way, rather than just by the age difference.

I think it absolutely depends on the two people and where they are both at in their life. I could meet some younger or older and age wouldn't really matter to me as long as we still had things in common, similar values and were looking for the same thing right now.

Blogger keeps eating my comments -

I said that five years below me would be illegal, but if I were out of college and so was he, then I'd be a little lenient. I did date someone 9 years older than me and it worked out surprisingly well and it was just distance that kept us from continuing.

I have never dated 5 years younger, but I typically end up dating guys who are more than 5 years older than me, sometimes a lot older. Do whatever feels right for you. Anything goes in this day and age.

i think it all depends on how old you are. 5 years is not a big deal at 30 and 35 or 20 and 25. but it's a big deal at 15 and 20. so it just depends.

my hubby is 5 years older than me (28 and 33) and i think it works out well because we all know men mature a lot slower than women!

Thanks for everyone's input I totally agree it depends on the individual situation and the maturity level... I guess only time will tell!

No matter how clique it sounds age is nothing but a number when it comes to adults but if there's a minor involve it makes a difference... i say go for it; it's all about chemistry at this point.

Five years either way wouldn't bother me. There are so many things that are more important than age :) Obviously you two hit it off!

No, five years younger, I wouldn't do. I'm almost 22, so I could NEVER see myself with someone still in high school. Five years older, though, yes. I'd date older.

My husband and I are 9 years apart... yes, he is 9 years my senior.. And I do thing it is where you are in life, and what you are ready for. He has taught me so much, and he would tell you that I keep him young. I met him when I was 21, and we are now 8 years going... It is what you make of it. There is so much to learn + or - age-wise.

Age is just a number my b/f is 14 years my senior. It's all in the maturity of the people involved. Good Luck.
