Over the holidays I went to LA for my cousins wedding and let me tell you it was BRRR! When you think of California you generally think of sun, beaches, celebs & fake boobs but let me tell you i saw none of that lol...
No I had a great time I only wished I had more time to sight see. We had a connecting flight on the way home. Cali>Denver>Toronto and on the flight from Denver to Toronto I was seated next to a young guy with a buzz cut. Right away he began to chat with me, apologizing for smelling of smoke and offering me several time to use his movie screen on the back of the headrest in front of him as mine was broken. Sweet yes, he even went as far as to offer me his portable dvd player but I just didn't feel right taking it lol.
As we chatted it came out that he was 20, in the US Air Force and stationed in the UK where he was headed via Toronto. He seemed nervous, fidgety and like he just needed to keep talking. He asked me all kinds of questions about Canadians which I found amusing, he told me all about the airplane we were on including the fact that we were pretty much free falling... He asked me what the drinking age was in the air and at one point he even found it amusing that the arm rest between us lifted up and offered to cuddle with me... I laughed it off and put the arm rest back down.
Near the end of the flight I asked his name... Matthew he said... but he never asked mine. As we deplaned he walked along side me until customs where we said our casual goodbyes and went our separate ways.
He was a character but it made one heck of a flight home since I usually get stuck to people who sleep the whole flight.
I came home and spent new years with Mr.BF and his family. Really low key, really sober & really glad to be entering into a new year with him :)
I hope you all had a fun and exciting holiday and new year. Here's to a wonderful 2010!!
Stay pretty ;)
Yes that's right this year I decided that I would put up a small little Christmas tree in my condo.
Growing up being of a faith other than the one that celebrates xmas I never had a tree or lights or carols or gingerbread houses or presents.... I watched all the other kids come back from xmas break raving about the holidays and the gifts and I was forced to attend "holiday" assembly's at school which really only consisted of Jingle bells and Here comes Santa Claus anyway so why they didnt just call them Christmas assembly's is beyond me.
Over the years I've thought about putting up lights or getting a tree but the most I ever did was buy a tiny 6" gold tree ornament and put up 1 strand of lights a few years back. I just could never justify doing the whole shabang if I was just going to enjoy it alone anyway.
This year however I finally found my excuse for a tree... Mr.BF! He is Roman Catholic although non practicing he has always had a tree and celebrated xmas so since he spends a lot of time at my place Im using him as an excuse this year!
We went out and picked out the fakest most cheesiest tree to put up and decorate with our walmart ornaments. I knew I didn't want to blow a lot of money on it because this year I now have 4 people (his fam) to buy big xmas gifts for, in comparison to maybe 2-3 Chris Kringle gifts last year.
Anyway so we put it up the other day and have been enjoying the fiber optic goodness of our very first xmas tree together ;)
Of course it had to be next to my Nacho Libre mask!
Well lovely people I'm back from paradise and straight into reality!
We arrived back early Saturday morning and although I miss the pool and sun terribly I'm really happy to be back in my own bed!
Also I'm a routine lover being a Capricorn and all so its good to be back into my daily life.
Anywho here are some pics from my amazing trip with Mr.BF. Btw there were no blowouts from spending 24/7 with each other which is just another sign that we are a good match ;)
Our Hotel

We took a private tour with a Canadian guy who's moved down there and he took us to this amazing school where we took school supplies for the adorable children.

We then visited a coffee and cocoa plantation which was quite interesting. They let us sample some chocolate in its natural state which is very bitter and some amazing coffee. In the last pic you can see our tour guide getting schooled from the woman of the house on the coffee beans.

We then took a drive down to Macao beach which was not only beautiful but quite as well. We were one of a handful of people on the beach. After the beach we drove through the city of Higuey where we saw the Basilica of Higuey.

Then we were off to the local farmers market where we saw all kinds of spices, fresh veggies and hand made items for sale.

We visited a wal-mart type of store where I found some interesting snacks. Lime flavored Pringles (amazing), Key lime pie splash gum (very sweet) and my fav cinnamon sugar pita chips SO good!

Our last stop was the Don Lucas Cigar factory. We watched as they rolled and labeled the cigars on tiny tables in a fair sized room right by the entrance.

The resort was stunning and although there weren't many English speaking guests we managed to keep each other from being bored. We celebrated Halloween there and the staff transformed the lobby into a makeshift graveyard it was pretty cool.

There were these amazing lounger beds throughout the resort.
You know to keep Mr.BF a secret ;)
He didn't tan much but at least he didn't burn!
I surprised him with decorating the room with balloons and streamers on his birthday. I'm sneaky :) I brought all the decor from here in my suitcase. I had the hotel staff help with this beautiful towel swan :)
Later that night was surprise #2. I took him off the resort to Punta Cana's #1 restaurant called Jellyfish. It was set right on the beach and with the sound of the waves, the full moon and amazing food it was a night to remember!
It was really really windy out but it worked for this pic lol..
What an amazing trip! We celebrated his birthday, 6 months and a start of hopefully a wonderful life together!
Stay Pretty ;)
There was a very good reason I didn't post yesterday....
The downside... TONS of people, screaming babies, 20 mins wait for a table in the food court and trying to sift through messy tables and racks of clothes...
The upside... good sales, spending time with my girls, something to do when everything else was closed & I got a hot new top!
It was kinda lame that we got the Wednesday off but I guess it kinda breaks up the week..
Happy 4th of July this weekend to all my American readers... at least you guys get a long weekend!
Photoshoot tonight... apparently I'm this models "preferred" makeup artist now... Hey I'm not complaining... being anyone's preferred anything cant be bad right?!
Stay Pretty ;)
So the orientation yesterday was ok besides being hit with ice pellets, being late, having my mascara run because my eyes were watering and finding out that everyone else in the orientation was at least 6 years younger than me! But ill talk about school tomorrow today I will finish up my tour of the islands :)
Next on the discover channel was Barbados! We got off this ship and decided to take a quick driving tour of the island where the driver showed us the coast, the town and even a tiny animal farm in the middle of no where. We eventually ended up at Carlisle Bay beach for a short tanning session.

As we set sail that night for St Lucia we celebrated NYE on the ship in the middle of the sea it was awesome. It was one massive deck party with a live band and noise makers and streamers and free champagne... really who could complain?!

Heres a short video I took before the countdown.
It was an awesome night and a totally different experience I must say!
Next we went to St Lucia. We walked the area close to the ships port for a bit and then tried to make the most of this cloudy day at the beach. We had a few lucky sunny breaks but not many...
See the dark clouds?
So my brother got all kinds of towel animals but our cabin guy hated us for some reason so we never got any :(

Just sporting my wanna be Latina look & fergie ponytails!
Thoughts on the beach Au natural!
Next island was Antigua where we once again spent a few hours at the beach. This beach was the best one with soft white sands and no rocks!
I found this sign in town and thought it was funny...
On the ship this night they also had a bathrobe & PJ party which was kinda funny... not that many people participated but if I had known about it I def would have brought cuter pj's lol...
Our last island was St Kits where we made it our goal to get some damn color and tan all day.. Yes this is how I burnt my poor legs.. which im happy to report are not swollen anymore and a lot less red!
Of course we asked the taxi driver to give us a bit of a drive along the coast so we could see some of this amazing island..

I also went jet skiing for the first time ever it was soo much fun! One of those tiny people below is me lol...
Our last stop was our home port back in San Juan Puerto Rico where we actually had a few hours to discover San Juan. We decided to visit an old fort and it was incredible.

This cruise was a blast and although its a totally different experience than an all inclusive resort im so glad we chose this instead :) I must say there were some weirdos on this ship like the young Spanish girl who insisted on carrying around her "bride of chucky" doll everywhere on the ship including formal dinners..

I guess there's always gonna be a few crazies in a group of 4000 huh!
Hope you enjoyed my wrap up of my week in paradise :)
Stay Pretty ;)
